GEO Statistics 2026

Figures checked at their source, with their period and their scope.

Home > GEO Statistics 2026

Our GEO statistics 2026 bring together figures checked at their primary source, each with its period and its scope. From January to April 2026, 68.01% of Google searches in the United States ended without a click, according to SparkToro. AI Overviews grew from 10% to 30% of US desktop keywords between March and September 2025, according to seoClarity.

Figures checked, not copied

Every figure on this page has been read at its primary source, meaning the publication of the organisation that did the measuring, not an article that repeats it. For each one we give its exact value, its period, its scope and its publication date. A figure whose source cannot be found is removed rather than guessed: that is why this 2026 edition has fewer figures than the previous one. Last checked: September 25, 2026. These benchmarks are the backdrop to our AI search engine optimization work, and the terms used are defined in our GEO glossary.

Searches that end without a click

From January to April 2026, 68.01% of Google searches in the United States ended without a single click. The measurement comes from SparkToro, based on the Similarweb desktop and mobile panel, and was published on June 9, 2026 by SparkToro. Searches made in the Google mobile app are not counted. The same article notes that in 2024 the share was 60.45%, but on a different panel: the comparison between the two years is therefore imperfect, and the author says so himself.

AI Overviews in 2025

Google's AI-generated answers, AI Overviews, appeared on 10% of keywords in March 2025 and on 30% in September 2025. The scope: US desktop keywords, in the seoClarity dataset, which covers more than 500 million keywords. The research page is updated continuously; the version we consulted is dated October 23, 2025.

Traffic sent by generative AI

Between July 2024 and February 2025, in the United States, traffic sent by generative AI grew 12-fold to retail sites, 17-fold to travel and 12-fold to banks, according to Adobe Digital Insights, based on Adobe Analytics data, published on May 23, 2025. On retail sites, those visits have a 23% lower bounce rate than other traffic, in February 2025, generate 12% more page views and last 41% longer than non-AI traffic. Those last three figures apply to retail only.

What these figures do not say

None of these figures tells you whether your brand is cited in AI answers. They are market trends, measured in the United States. To know where you stand, you have to measure your own visibility, with a constant testing protocol. The rest, the terms and the approach, is covered in our complete GEO guide.

They are measured in the United States, and we say so every time. We do not transpose them to Quebec: to know your brand's real visibility, it has to be measured, query by query and platform by platform.
